Welcome to Adobe GoLive 6

The purpose of this web resource and associated CD-ROM is to share materials, lessons, movies, and related instructional resources with participants of the Commission on Geographical Education (CGE) meetings in Glasgow, Scotland August 10-15, 2004.

The last 20 years have shown a marked improvement in the quality and quantity of geography education in the United States. Indicators of progress in K-12 geography education during just the most recent decade include the introduction of Advanced Placement Human Geography, implementation of the National Geography Standards, curriculum development initiatives like GIGI, ARGUS, ARGWORLD, Finding a Way, and Mission Geography, the infusion of GIS into classrooms, and advances in assessment such as the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP).

We believe that geography educators around the world are curious about the progress and current status of geography education in the US. The CGE meeting is an opportunity to celebrate 20 years of improvement in geography education in the US by highlighting and promoting the best of US curricula and educators.
